Paul Hennessy (Portrayed by John Ritter from 2002-2003) is Cate's husband and father of Bridget, Kerry and Rory. Paul is a former sports writer, who worked from home as a Lifestyle columnist. He is described as being "the master of the double standard", a "Psycho-Dad", and a perceived hypocrite who often embarrasses his children, even if he wants what's best for them.
Paul also is very disapproving of Bridget and Kerry dating boys because he claims boys only want one thing. But he isn't bothered about Rory that much, which causes Bridget and Kerry to be mad. Nonetheless, he loves his children, and wants them to have happy futures. Paul collapsed and died while at the store while buying milk. This was probably because of a heart attack (and because of the real-life death of John Ritter).
