When C.J. first arrives, he claims to have had a job at the circus operating a tilt-a-whirl ride. He lives along with his Grandfather in the basement (having previously lived in a van, which was burned by that same Grandfather). He once dated Mrs. Krupp, his cousins' (Kerry and Bridget) math teacher, but he ended up cheating on her with Principal Gibbs' ex-girlfriend, Cheryl. He once revealed that "C" in "C.J." stood for Corey (while trying to get a woman to go out with him) to Rory's girlfriend's sister Sissy, but Rory said that it did not stand for Corey, and he was just making it up. He is also fascinated with the band Areosmith.Despite acting childish C.J. can show signs of maturity, and is a good listener as shown in "Changes" when Kerry opens up to him about her affair in Paris. He also gives good advice this is seen when Kerry realizes the guy she cheated on Kyle with is a jerk and demands C.J. take her home. He calls Jim gampy, and sometimes bonds with him and loves him like a father.
When he was little he couldn't pronounce sprinkles and instead called them "sprinkies".
It's possible that the "J" in C.J. may stand for James, due to his grandfather's name being "Jim" which is short for James, and it is traditional to give the child the father's name as a middle name.
